Q: Is marijuana legal in the U.S. Virgin Islands (USVI)?

A: The USVI approved medicinal cannabis use in early 2019, however, it never came to fruition as there was never final regulations voted on or published to allow for businesses or patients to apply for licenses. In early 2023 recreational cannabis was approved, however, there are currently no dispensaries. You can find the most up to date information from the Virgin Islands Office of Cannabis Regulations website and Facebook.

Q: So does that mean using marijuana is legal?

A: No. Because there is currently no legal route to purchase marijuana, there is no legal way to use cannabis here. However, marijuana was decriminalized in the USVI in 2014. That being said, you can still be fined and ticketed for possession of marijuana. Possession of less than 1oz. of Marijuana may result in confiscation and/or fine of $100-$200. Having more than 1oz. can result in a larger fine and possible jail time.

Q: So then how does The Remedy carry THC products?

A: The Remedy offers an array of THC products including flower, edibles, drinks and vapes. These products are derived from hemp, which is cannabis that tests at a very low percentage of THC. Delta 9 THC, the commonly known THC, is the THC that is regulated by the federal government to be below 0.3% in any product. However, thanks to how the hemp bill was written, this is the only naturally occurring THC that is regulated to that amount. The cannabis plant has many different THCs including Delta 8 THC and HHC (a hydrogenated form of THC) that will give you very similar effects. The Remedy does carry Delta 9 THC products in edible form that meet these Federal guidelines, but will still give the user the psychoactive “high” they may be seeking with most Delta 9 THC edibles coming in 10mg per serving. Delta 8 THC and HHC are slightly less potent than Delta 9 THC, which is why you will generally see these edibles in high milligrams per serving such as 25mg.

Q: So which THC should I go with?

A: In general, user feedback is that the Delta 8 THC products are a much more “blissful”, sativa like high without feeling tired or groggy. Customers usually report back that the Delta 9 THC products have more of an indica feel to them, with people using them for insomnia and pain management.

Q: Will I be able to take these products to the States?

A: Absolutely. All of our products are Federally legal, thereby meeting the laws that govern CBP and TSA. Further, all of our products are third party lab tested with certificates of analysis for each. If someone were to question you regarding one of our products, simply have them scan the QR code on the side of the package which will bring up the lab reports to show they are completely legal. These lab reports are also accessible under each product on The Remedy’s online store. The only thing The Remedy does not recommend traveling to the States with is our flower. Though they meet Federal guidelines and we have lab reports for each, they would fail a basic “field test” administered by CBP or TSA as it can only say “yes” or “no” to THC versus laboratory equipment that can tell the difference between different cannabinoids and show their respective percentages.
